Date Night at Crow’s Nest – Dinner, Drinks and Strange Donuts

Jeremy and I decided this afternoon to take a much needed break from the last two weeks and have a date night. One of our favorite places to go is Crow’s Nest in Maplewood. The last time we were there was in April after an all day volleyball tournament.

Instead of having a beer and getting super full we went for mixed drinks. I had the ‘I Hate the Bartender’. It was a Mojito with fresh muddled raspberries. Yum!

Jeremy had a drink that was basically straight whisky. We enjoyed the drinks with the pork poutine that is our go to.

I have been enjoying salmon on the regular and decided I wanted to try something new. I ordered the Salmon Supper.

My salmon came with roasted brussels sprouts and carrots and whipped parsnips. The vegetables were seasoned to perfection and the salmon was delicious.

Jeremy ordered the special. It was tuna steaks with bok choy. The bok choy was charred and spicy. It was so tasty. I’d love to recreate it. The tuna steaks were so meaty too.

After dinner Jeremy suggested we grab dessert. What better place to have dessert in Maplewood than Strange Donuts? We had the stranger. It was a chocolate bizmark with chocolate chip filling, ganache and cookie crumbs on top. Thank goodness we split it because I was so full. You’d think that this donut was super sweet but it was actually not bad at all sweet wise.

Now it’s time for binge watching some Gilmore Girls and and early bed time. Ke$ha has daycare early tomorrow morning.
