S’mores Bar Recipe

As promised I am going to share with you the recipe for the s’mores bars I made for dessert on the 4th.

This was the first time that I had made them. I got the idea from my mom, who had made them previously. She didn’t care for them but I am a s’mores fanatic so I was in love at first bite!

I honestly have no idea who to credit this recipe. I do not take credit whatsoever. Pinterest it and it will pop up a million times. Whoever started this, you are a genious!


½ cup of butter, room temp
¼ cup brown sugar
½ cup of sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/3 cups all purpose flour
¾ cup graham cracker crumbs
1 tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
2 king-sized Hershey bars
1 ½ cups marshmallow creme

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease and 8-inch baking pan.

Cream together the butter and sugars. Beat in the egg and vanilla.

In a separate bowl mix together the flour, graham cracker crumbs, baking powder, and salt.

Add this to the butter mixture and mix until combined.

Press half of the dough into the bottom of your greased pan. The other half will be used to cover the top.

Next, add your chocolate bars on top.

(don’t worry, it will melt into those edges while baking. you will not miss our on chocolaty goodness in any of these bites)

Next, add the marshmallow creme. Spread into a smooth layer.

Finally add the 2nd half of the graham dough. I didn’t leave enough. I will do a better job at that next time.

Bake for around 30 minutes or until slightly browned.

Caution! Cool completely before cutting into these. Also! If you want to display them on a plate, good luck. Even the day after upon sitting the marshmallow will ooze out. Not a bad thing, but no good for presentation!

So. Ta-da! Here it is! It got the nod of approval from our friends. Make some up this summer and enjoy a nontraditional version of a traditional favorite.
